Biography

Jon Savage returns to the Lyric as the Scenic Designer for A Raisin in the Sun and Clybourne Park! Jon is a proud Aggie (’01) and is very happy to be returning to the Lyric. Past Lyric design credits include Lion in Winter (2001) and Peter and the Starcatcher (2018). Past Lyric performances include Jim in Pump Boys and Dinettes, Hedges in Boys Next Door and Alaric (for one night only with script in hand) in Peg o’ My Heart all in the 2001 season. Jon had the privilege of working with both Vosco Call and Sid Perkes during his time in Logan and is very pleased to be working with Richie Call as he forges the future of the Lyric Rep. Since graduating from USU Jon attended graduate school at North Carolina School of the Arts studying scenic design and is now a professor and Head of BFA Design, Production & Management programs at Boston University School of Theatre. Jon has had the pleasure of working in regional theatre around the country at theatres such as The Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, The Olney Theatre in the D.C area, Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, NY and the Huntington Theatre in Boston, just to name a few. He also had the privilege of working on Broadway as an Associate Designer for Hot Feet as well as assisting on Sunset Boulevard. His projection work has been seen in shows at the English National Opera and will be seen in an opera that is opening at Glimmerglass Opera before moving to the Palace at Versailles in France. Film and T.V. work includes scenic art and properties for the Discovery Channel and the HBO Miniseries John Adams. Originally from Wyoming with stops in Fielding, UT (middle school) and Panguitch, UT (high school) Jon has lived just outside of Boston, MA for the last 15 years with his wife, two children and one dog. Jon has been a proud member of United Scenic Artists for the last 14 years.
