Jon Savage

Jon Savage returns to the Lyric Rep after 17 years as the set designer for Peter and the Starcatcher!

Jon last designed for the Lyric Rep in 2001 for "The Lion in Winter." His last onstage performances were also in the Lyric '01 season where he played Jim in "Pump Boys and Dinettes", ensemble member in "Peg O' My Heart" and Hedges/Corbin/Clark in "Boys Next Door". Upon graduating from USU in 2001 Jon attended graduate school at the North Carolina School of the Arts ('04). Jon has been on faculty at Boston University since 2004 and has been serving as the Head of BFA Design & Production Programs in the School of Theatre for the last several years. While on faculty he has served as a curator for the U.S. National Student's Exhibit at the 2007 Prague Quadrennial in the Czech Republic and has taught at the Accademia dell'Arte in Arezzo, Italy. Jon's work has been seen on HBO (John Adams miniseries) and The Discovery Channel (911 Stories). He made his Broadway debut as the Associate Set Designer for "Hot Feet", an Earth, Wind and Fire vehicle in 2006. Jon has been the set designer for over 60 productions as a member of United Scenic Artists, primarily in the New England regions. Some notable theatres for whom Jon has worked include the Tony Award winning Huntington Theatre (Boston), the English National Opera (London), The Kennedy Center (DC), Bucks County Playhouse (PA), Walnut Street Theatre (Philadelphia), Bay Street Theatre (Sag Harbor, NY) and the Olney Theatre (MD), just to name a few. Originally from Panguitch, UT Jon and his wife have been living in Boston with their two children for the last 14 years.
